Fall has always been my favorite time of year. The air has a crisp feeling, the smells of apples and pumpkins, fall activities with the kids, and let’s not forget about the beautiful colors of tree leaves changing. In fact, I love autumn so much that I dedicated my marriage to it.

My husband and I married exactly six years ago last week (Shout out - Happy Anniversary, Nick!). Fall reminds me of how breathtaking it is to experience the beauty all around and the feeling of hope during the changing season.

Are you in a season of change in life? Or how about your company? The 4th quarter snuck up quicker than many of us would like to admit. Rather than seeing this time of year as the race to get everything done before the end of the year, use this season to reflect and see the beauty happening in your life and your company. Personally, I see excitement in the word “change.” Why do we think “change” can have daunting, fearful unknowns tied to it? Turn whatever negative connotation associated with “change” into new opportunities for your life and business.

Change is inevitable.

Change is an essential part of business success. I’m not saying fix what’s not broken. But more so, lean into changes happening around you. How can you pause and see a change in your business as a means for growth? Pushing out a big initiative? Developing new leaders? It’s change, and sometimes it’s hard to accept, but it’s beautiful. Stop looking head down on all the projects and issues and start looking outward. Leaves fall off trees for a reason. It’s healthy for the tree - just like in your business. You can’t do everything, nor should you. Here’s your permission to stop holding on to things that must be let go. Change can’t happen effectively if we don’t allow it to happen naturally.

My dad used to tell me, “Nothing changes if nothing changes.” Read that again. It’s powerful. If nothing changes in your business, nothing will change for the future of your business. If you don’t change a habit, you’ll never see a change in yourself. Embrace change, and it will start to embrace you.

Carve out “you” time so you can enjoy this new season.

What personal and professional change will you make this season? Take time for yourself. It’s essential for your business and professional life. Not sure where to start?
